Design sprint

Months of brainstorming about an idea? No need. With a design sprint, you know within four days whether your concept works. We take you through an intensive process in which you go from problem to validated solution.

What is a design sprint?

A design sprint lets companies innovate quickly, come up with a concept or develop an existing product further. The design sprint is based on design thinking - a methodology used to solve complex problems.

Within four days, you know whether your idea works. A design sprint saves a lot of time and budget. Time and money you would otherwise spend on ideating, building, launching, testing and learning. This way you go straight from idea to learning.

The steps of a design sprint

A design sprint at Partout takes four days. Each day has a clear goal, so you work step by step towards a validated solution.

Days 1 and 2: Workshops

Days 1 and 2: Workshops

We define the challenge sharply, come up with a solution together and decide which prototypes we will build. All perspectives come to the table here: from your market knowledge to our strategic insights.

Day 3: Design and build

Day 3: Design and build

We build the prototype. Not a polished end product, but good enough to test with. It's about the core of your idea, not the details.

Day 4: Test and translate

Day 4: Test and translate

The prototype is tested with your target audience. We translate their feedback straight into clear next steps. After four days, you have a solution to your challenge, plus a route for building further.

Design sprint vs. design thinking

Design thinking is the vision; a design sprint is the practical execution. Where design thinking is a mindset for solving complex problems, a design sprint is the structured way to do that in four days.

Design thinking puts people at the centre. You always start from the real needs of your audience, not from what is technically possible. We do the same in our design sprints. The difference? We make sure you don't get stuck in endless brainstorming sessions.

In a design sprint, you take the principles of design thinking and turn them into a tight process: from problem to prototype to test. So that after four days you know whether your solution works, instead of going back to the drawing board once again.

What does a design sprint deliver?

After four days, you go home with more than just a prototype. Your team works as one, everyone understands the goal and knows what the next steps are.

You'll see it in your organisation: people from different departments who now work together instead of talking past each other. Stakeholders who no longer hesitate because they can see a tangible prototype. And concrete steps for building further, without groping in the dark.

Plus: new energy in your team. Because nothing is more motivating than making something together that you know works.

Why choose a design sprint at Partout?

A design sprint at Partout is guaranteed to be a success. We take care of the right preparation, provide an experienced facilitator and arrange the location, but more importantly: we make sure the right people are at the table.

We add to your team with, for example, a designer, digital marketer, developer or strategist, depending on which skills are needed to get the most out of the design sprint. We complement the knowledge you have of your audience, market and organisation with insights from the market. This way, all the key stakeholders are always covered: the organisation, the customer and the market.

Frequently asked questions about design sprints

How long does a design sprint take?

A Design Sprint at Partout takes four days. The first two days consist of workshops, and the third day is dedicated to designing and building the prototype. On the last day of the Design Sprint, we test the prototype with the target audience and translate the feedback into clear next steps. So after four days you have a solution to your challenge, idea or problem.

Is a design sprint only suitable for large organisations?

A design sprint isn't just for large organisations. You do need enough people for the process to work well: around 7 to 8 people with different perspectives. That is why a design sprint is often not the best choice for start-ups or sole traders.

What happens after a design sprint?

After a design sprint there are two possibilities. Either you discover that your concept doesn't work as expected, so you can adjust in time or take a different direction. Or the idea turns out to be successful and you can continue developing with a clear picture of what you're going to build.

What does a design sprint cost?

A design sprint costs €18,000. This includes the preparation, four days of facilitation, all materials and working out the results into concrete next steps.
